ABOUT THE LIBRARY (HOURS, LOCATION, STAFF)
The mission of the Lufkin Memorial Library is to provide the information and resources required to meet the needs of the educational programs of the school. In support of this mission the library offers services, collections, and programs that facilitate the effective use of information and acquisition of information literacy; provides information in all formats to meet these needs, and embraces appropriate new technologies to enhance the electronic learning community.

A major component of Lufkin Memorial Library's mission is to insure students the skills necessary for information literacy and lifelong learning. The mission of the Information Literacy Program, an institute-wide endeavor, is to provide the BFIT community with the necessary skills to locate, retrieve, evaluate, and use information effectively. These skills prepare BFIT learners to recognize the need for information, as well as the varied pathways for gathering information, leading to academic success and lifelong learning.

The library has approximately 5,000 physical volumes, subscribes to approximately 15,000 e-books, 120 periodicals, and other electronic resources.

The Lufkin Memorial Library is a member of the Boston Regional Library System (BRLS), part of the Massachusetts Library and Information Network. Through the BRLS system the Institute has guaranteed students access to over 100 academic, public, school and special libraries.

The Lufkin Memorial Library is also a member of the New England Library and Information Network (NELINET). NELINET is a member-owned, member-governed cooperative of more than 500 academic, public, and special libraries in the six New England states. NELINET promotes resource sharing and interlibrary cooperation among the member libraries and helps to control costs by providing group discounts to online reference and document delivery services, CD-ROM's, library supplies and other equipment.
